Hello everyone! If you’re a mom, have nieces and nephews, or are a big sister like I am, there are many opportunities that present themselves to show how crafty and creative you can be. In this article, we’re going to talk about 5 different projects that kids can benefit from. Not a parent? No problem! These projects serve as excellent gifts for a loved one with children, or a baby shower present.
1. Baby Blanket
This is super, super easy to make, and will probably save you more money than a store-bought blanket if you get a great deal on fabric. I recently wrote a tutorial for craftbuds.com instructing on how to make a blanket, and the fabric I used (1.5 yards of two different fabrics) cost me around ten dollars. If you’re wanting to express your creativity for baby, or are in the market for a specific theme of fabric for a nursery, making your baby blanket is a way to go. Click here for the tutorial.
2. Baby Food
Making your own baby food can give you lots of fun as well as fulfillment, knowing that you know every ingredient that’s going into your baby’s tummy. The internet has tons of recipes to try that your baby will love. Why not give it a shot?
3. Baby Clothing
Making clothes for your baby might seem daunting, but there are some very easy patterns and tutorials out there that you can follow, such as how to make skirts and pants with elastic waists. If you’re really ready to rock, try making some onesies!
4. Nursery Decorations
This is where lots and lots of fun can be had. Make a mobile by cutting different shapes out of construction paper (or use shaped paper punches, like an octopus punch for a nautical themed room), paint your own pictures to hang, or color wooden letters to spell out your baby’s name. The possibilities are sky high.
5. Diaper Bags
For the truly daring, try making your own diaper bag. Customize it to your needs, while choosing a fabric you find super stylish. Afraid of zippers? Buttons work too.
Happy crafting everyone!
