Hello everyone! This week I worked hard on a new pair of yoga pants for my lovely friend Shayla, and a t-shirt refashion from one of my favorite tees.
I’ve had this t-shirt for a few years, and as you can see, it’s a shirt that has been well loved. The problem is, the last time I washed it, it got caught on something in the washer…
…and two big holes showed up on the back. Boo! But instead of throwing the shirt away, I decided I would roll with it and turn it into something new. Here’s what I did:
I cut off the neckline and the sleeves to make rough, raw edges, and turn the tee into a tank.
Then, on the back of the shirt, I made small snips in the fabric and ripped them to make the holes bigger, and less deliberate looking. And then I was finished!
The result was a cute grungy look for heading to yoga class, or just lounging around the house in something comfortable.
The yoga pants were made from a very stretchy and soft black fabric, and the thread I used is glow in the dark for some added interest. They were really fun and easy to make, and I can’t wait to pop out some more pairs. If you’re interested in learning how to make your own pair of yoga pants, click this link. The tutorial teaches how to make a pair of leggings, but the steps are the same for a pair of yoga pants. All you need is a pair of yoga pants you already own, and are willing to sacrifice to be used as your pattern.
I have lots of clothes I want to refashion into something new and fun, so be on the lookout for more projects of this sort!
Happy sewing everyone!
